Description
Combining the best of both styles lends itself particularly well to the tropical climate of Costa Rica’s “Gold Coast.” The use of fiber-cement in construction (similar to that used at the Four Seasons Hotel on Playa del Coco), pristine landscaping dotted with palm trees, circular swimming pools and inner courtyards provide for a relaxed feeling and low-key elegance.
“We chose a light, fresh and cheerful style that brings to mind feelings associated with the ocean, blends with the environment and rescues, in a modern architectural language, a Costa Rican vernacular style”, explains Aimée Joaristi of Joaristi & Barascout, the architecture firm behind La Meridiana.
La Meridiana makes extensive use of bio-climactic design and with an on-site water treatment plant, recycles "gray waters" for common area maintenance and landscape watering.
